Listed companies are active in areas such as lithium batteries, cathode and anode materials, electrolytes, separators, lithium resources, and battery recycling. Among these firms, many are industry leaders in other sectors, and several have even invested in multiple companies across the lithium‑battery value chain.
Xinzhoubang’s battery chemicals fall into three main categories: electrolytes for secondary lithium‑ion batteries, electrolytes for primary lithium batteries, and electrolytes for supercapacitors. As one of the four key materials in a lithium battery—alongside the cathode, anode, and separator—the lithium‑ion battery electrolyte consists of a solvent, a lithium‑salt solute, and various additives. Often referred to as the “lifeblood” of the battery, it plays a critical role in shuttling lithium ions between the electrodes, thereby enabling lithium‑ion batteries to deliver high voltage, high specific energy, and other performance advantages.
It is precisely because lithium batteries have relatively low terminal voltages that, aside from being connected in series to achieve higher voltages, the individual cells cannot be made excessively large in terms of both volume and capacity. Why can’t they be made larger? As we know, in a Voltaic cell, a chemical reaction occurs between the copper (or carbon rod) and zinc electrodes immersed in sulfuric acid: the two dissimilar metals generate an ionic potential, which, when the external load circuit is closed, gives rise to an electric current. Lithium batteries operate on a similar principle: in a lithium battery, the positive electrode is composed of lithium ions, while the negative electrode consists of carbon arranged in a layered structure. Lithium ions migrate from the positive electrode through the electrolyte, passing through the tiny, tortuous pores in the separator, and reach the negative electrode, where they combine with electrons flowing through the external load circuit to produce a load current—essentially, the flow of electrons.
The key components of a lithium‑ion battery are the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the electrolyte, and the separator. Among these, the electrode materials determine the battery’s energy density, while the electrolyte and separator enable the free passage of lithium ions, thereby completing the electrical circuit—both playing pivotal roles in battery performance. Under these conditions, both battery capacity and charging speed—two core factors underlying range anxiety in electric vehicles—can be traced back to challenges in battery materials. There is no doubt that battery materials science has become a critical driver of advances in electric‑vehicle technology, whether viewed from the perspective of boosting energy density or improving charging efficiency.

The drawbacks include excessively high temperatures and a closed environment; under high-temperature conditions, the electrolyte can ignite rapidly, increasing the risk of thermal runaway or explosion. Moreover, if improperly recycled, the cathode materials in lithium batteries can lead to heavy-metal contamination.
