At around 180°C, the cathode material of a lithium battery will react with the electrolyte, generating large amounts of gas and heat and leading to thermal runaway. Consequently, lithium batteries are highly susceptible to external impacts, as such events can easily trigger thermal runaway.
Since then, the prices of various raw materials for lithium batteries have continued to rise, with some increases exceeding 300%, driving a sharp surge in the costs of key lithium‑battery components such as cathode materials and electrolytes. Among these, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate has seen particularly significant gains.
The operating principle of a lithium battery refers to its charge–discharge mechanism. During charging, lithium ions are generated at the battery’s positive electrode and migrate through the electrolyte to the negative electrode.
Electrolyte: The electrolyte is typically prepared under specific conditions and in precise proportions from high-purity organic solvents, lithium salt electrolytes, and necessary additives. It serves to facilitate ion transport between the positive and negative electrodes of a lithium battery, thereby ensuring that the battery can achieve high voltage, high specific energy, and other advantageous performance characteristics.
(2) Lithium-ion cells: Lithium-ion cell manufacturers use cathode and anode materials, electrolyte, and separators supplied by upstream material vendors to produce lithium-ion cells of various specifications and capacities. Cells account for more than 60% of the cost structure of a lithium‑battery module and are regarded as the core component of lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries consist of four key components: the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator, and the electrolyte. The electrolyte plays a crucial role in the battery’s operation by providing a conductive medium that enables lithium ions to shuttle between the electrodes during charging and discharging. The electrolyte’s condition—whether it is healthy, aged, dissolved, or frozen—constitutes a major factor influencing the lithium battery’s lifespan.
From the perspective of the long-term evolution of lithium batteries, continuously reducing the electrolyte content and transitioning toward solid-state batteries is an inevitable trend in technological advancement, and has become the core focus of competition in the global battery industry in the next phase.
As a carrier for lithium-ion transport, the electrolyte is one of the four essential components of a lithium battery. The four key materials of a lithium battery are the cathode material, the anode material, the electrolyte, and the separator. Among these, the electrolyte serves as the medium that facilitates the movement of lithium ions between the cathode and the anode, making it one of the critical factors influencing the performance of lithium-ion batteries.
The industrial chain is the backbone that underpins economic circulation. To integrate the upstream and downstream segments of the lithium‑battery value chain, secure raw‑material supplies, and unlock synergies across its operations, Longpan Technology has launched six major projects, including a recycling initiative and a 150,000‑ton electrolyte plant. Once all six projects are fully commissioned and operational, they will establish a closed‑loop industrial cycle, with an estimated output value of approximately RMB 34.4 billion and tax contributions nearing RMB [amount not specified].
