Precautions for Electrolyte Solutions

2023-11-01

1. During the initial stages of electrolytic polishing, the polishing solution may generate foam; therefore, the distance between the solution surface and the top of the polishing tank should not be less than 15 cm.

2. Before entering the polishing tank, stainless steel workpieces should have as much surface moisture as possible removed, since excessive water carried by the workpiece can lead to severe pitting on the polished surface and localized etching, resulting in scrap.

3. During the electrolytic polishing process, the stainless steel workpiece serving as the anode continuously dissolves its iron and chromium elements into the polishing solution as metal ions, which do not deposit on the cathode surface. As polishing progresses, the concentration of these metal ions steadily increases; once it reaches a certain threshold, they precipitate out of the solution in the form of phosphates and sulfates, settling at the bottom of the polishing tank. Therefore, the polishing solution must be filtered regularly to remove these solid precipitates.

4. During operation of the polishing tank, in addition to the continuous consumption of phosphoric and sulfuric acids, water is lost through evaporation and electrolysis. Furthermore, the highly viscous polishing slurry is continuously entrained by the workpieces, causing the slurry level to drop steadily. Therefore, fresh polishing slurry and water must be regularly replenished in the tank.

5. The effluent after neutralization meets current environmental protection standards.

6. This product is corrosive; avoid contact with eyes and mouth, and do not allow it to come into contact with skin. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water; in severe cases, seek medical attention for strong acid burns.

7. Store in a sealed, cool place; effective for long-term use.
